The following teams participated in the FSKA Championships: USA, England, Ireland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Russia, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Italy, South Africa, Portugal, France, Germany, Macedonia, Poland.
The Polish team included three competitors from the SKC club (myself, Ewa lipinska and Konrad Kozubski). The two-day competition took place on six mats and provided us with a lot of emotions.
Our results: Ewa won the bronze medal with her friends from the Polish team in the senior team kumite, Konrad also won the third place in the individual seniors kumite up to bronze belt. I won the second place in the kumite open 35-39 years, on the way winning three fights and losing the final to my friend from the Polish national team, Grzegorz Truchanowicz. In the senior team kumite category, I won the silver medal as the Polish national team. Our team in the squad (myself, Grzegorz Truchanowicz, Janusz Harast, Rafal Nowak, Maciej Woźniak) defeated the South African team, unfortunately we lost to England in the final.
We were very pleased with our start, despite the lack of time to properly prepare for this rank of competition. The news about the possibility of competing in the FSKA World Karate Championships reached us a few days before the start. Even more so, I consider the result we achieved to be a success.
Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi who is the founder of the FSKA organization participated in the award ceremony.
And finally. I would say that despite the lack of time we had to properly prepare for such a large scaled competition, it was worth taking part, meeting old friends from around the world, gaining new experiences and being up to date with the rules of the sport, as well as watching interesting combinations that you can enter in your own fight.
On the venue of the Crawley-London championship, I don't want to comment too much because I live in London. I can only say that you would have to spend a few weeks in the city to see what this region has to offer.
